CODE OF CONDUCT - Players / Coaches / Officials

IN-SHORT (all)

  1. Play hard, fair and by the rules.
  2. Respect everyone involved in the game.
  3. Support your team mates and management.
  4. Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
  5. Attend practices, follow advice and direction from coaches and management.
  6. Maintain high standards of dress and behaviours when representing the club.
  7. Pay your sub on time.
  8. Attend all after match functions when requested.
  9. Help out if requested to.

PLAYERS

I will:

  • Always play by the rules
  • Never argue with an official. If I disagree with a decision, I will inform the captain, coach or manager during a break or after the competition
  • Control my temper. I understand that verbal abuse of officials and other players or deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not acceptable or permitted behaviour in any sport
  • Work equally hard for myself and my team, taking responsibility for my own fitness and preparation for playing. This includes regular and punctual attendance at training, following advice and guidance from coaches.
  • Be a good sport and applaud all good plays whether they are made by my team or the opposition
  • Treat all players in my sport as I like to be treated. I will not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor
  • Display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat
  • Participate for my own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
  • Thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game
  • Show concern and caution toward sick and injured players and follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition
  • Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others
  • Be professional in, and accept responsibility for, my actions
  • Refrain from any form of abuse, obscene language, harassment, discrimination, or victimisation towards others
  • Reject corruption, drugs, racism, doping, violence and other dangers to our sport
  • Be a positive role model within the wider Club:

           *Attend after match functions according to team protocols

           *Ensure that I am wearing the correct clothing / uniform according to team protocol, showing respect and care for all club uniforms entrusted to me.

           *Ensure that my subscription is paid in full and on time. I will talk to my team manger if I have difficulty complying with this.

           *When available, I will respond positively to requests to help out

I will not:

  • Arrive at any venue intoxicated or drink alcohol prior to any training or match
  • Arrive under the influence or having had engaged in any illegal substances prior to any training or match
  • Allow the unlawful supply of alcohol at training, games or club functions
  • Use bad language nor will I harass players, officials, spectators or other coaches

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

  1. Strive to attend all meetings on time, send apologies to the Club Manager for necessary absences or lateness.
  2. Fulfil any responsibilities assigned to you / agreed by you and be prepared to report back on your progress at the next meeting.
  3. Ensure that your reports / communications are sent to the Club manager in time for pre-meeting postings.
  4. Be prepared for the meeting by reading the agenda, papers and any other communications before the meeting.
  5. Ensure strict confidentiality of papers and information that is not in the public domain.
  6. Do not act independently of the Board and its decisions.
  7. Draw attention to any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in the meeting.
  8. Adhere to standard meeting protocols as adopted by the committee.
  9. Support club employees, fellow committee members, coaches, managers and players in their roles.
  10. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all people involved in or associated with our club, in kindred clubs or in local associations including referees and umpires.
  11. Be a positive role model in behaviour and personal appearance and ensure comments and actions are positive and supportive.This includes airing opinions in a public forum, including on social media, that may reflect negatively on the club.
  12. Ensure that you have the best interests of the club in mind at all times.
  13. Promote the club in a positive manner as an ambassador of the club.
  14. Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour at all times.

COACHES & MANAGERS

  1. Ensure that the environment is a positive experience for players and that all players have an equal opportunity to develop and participate.
  2. Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport including your players, opponents, referees, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators and ensure that players to do the same.
  3. Give priority to ill and injured players and ensure that prompt and appropriate medical assistance is provided. Follow the advice of a medical professional when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.
  4. Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate for the purpose.
  5. Be a positive role model in behaviour and personal appearance and ensure comments and actions are positive and supportive. This includes airing opinions in a public forum, including on social media, that may reflect negatively on the club.
